Gallagher Gab

With the mild spring we have had, and
the snows of March long past, it is time to enjoy the summer! Temperatures
are rising, and so are the demands for a clear swimming pool! Get
your water circulated, fill your Gallagher Pools and Spas sample
bottle from 18" below the surface of the water, and bring it
in for a test! We can suggest chemicals to add to help clear up
any problems you may be experiencing, balance your water to increase
swimmer comfort, or even turn it blue! If your pool is getting boring,
this is also a great time to shop for toys and games! We have a
whole bunch of new toys this year that are fun for girls and boys
of all ages. Everything from water-ball guns to underwater skateboards
to flying fairies. We also have a variety of colored lights that
create various effects in your pool water, and even on your deck.
For those of you who have come to the store, you have probably seen
our two new employees. For those of you who have not, you will soon
have the opportunity! Candyce is our new full time retail associates,
while Abbi is our new summer assistant. These two additions to our
team help keep things flowing throughout the long summer months,
and make sure all of our customers are cared for in the traditional
Gallagher Pool and Spa way.

Even in the best of times algae can
grow, but with the sun and the rain this year we have been finding
some customers who have terrible algae problems. Proper sanitizer
maintenance can help prevent algae before it grows, as can Gallagher’s
Algaecide 60. If the sanitizer remains low and algae starts to bloom
it builds a slime layer to protect itself from chemicals. As the
sun feeds it the algae begins to spread to the rest of your pool.
Getting rid of algae is normally easy, through shocking your pool
and adding algaecide. It can become more difficult if your pH and
alkalinity are out of balance. Follow these steps to maintain an
algae free environment.
1. Keep all of your chemicals in balance.
Check your balance frequently to make sure it remains in the proper
range, especially after large parties, rainstorms, and adding water.
2. Add 2 ounces of Algaecide 60 as a weekly maintenance treatment
for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. In Baquacil pools 1 ¼
ounces per 10,000 gallons as a weekly maintenance.
3. If you notice algae beginning to develop, check your chemical
balance. If it is just beginning, brush your walls to free the algae
and destroy the slime layer. Shock the pool if it needs it just
after brushing, and add a maintenance dose of algaecide.
4. Contact a Gallager Pools and Spas associate if the condition
worsens or if you can not get the pool clean and clear.
