March 2006 |
Gallagher Gab
While Punxsutawney Phil saw
his shadow this year, it just does not feel like winter out there
some of these days. Fortunately Gallagher’s is ready as always,
with a full stock of chemicals. We have already scheduled the
pool openings for hundreds of our customers and are still waiting
to hear back from hundreds more! If you have not already authorized
your opening date, and you want Gallagher’s to open your pool,
make sure you call back to give us the okay. If we have not called
you about opening your swimming pool at this time, call us up
to get on our schedule while there are still dates available.
Also remember that all of our chemicals and equipment are on sale
until March 31st, so hurry in and pick up all of the things you
need for your pool throughout the year. This is the best sale
of the year, so do not miss it!

On April 1st and 2nd of this
year you can visit Gallagher’s at the Carroll County Home and
Garden Center at the Carroll County Agricultural center. This
will be a large home show with numerous participants from across
Carroll County and beyond. We will be displaying our two new lines
of spas, as well as other pool and spa related products at this
year’s show. We will be at the show both days this year! Stop
at our booth to look at our products, or just to say hello and
look at our displays! Look for more information at www.carrollcountytimes.com/info/home_show/

For those of
you with mesh covers on your swimming pool you have one more thing
to think about this March.
As we get a few of these warm days, sunlight can go directly through
your mesh cover and begin feeding and breeding algae. This can
contribute to removing your cover and finding a swamp. We have
a solution, however. We have found that adding certain chemicals
under your cover in March will help you have a better opening!
You will need to add 3 bottles of liquid chlorine for every 10,000
gallons of water, and 1 bottle of winter treat for up to 20,000
gallons; 30,000 gallons you would add two bottles of winter treat
and 9 bottles liquid chlorine; 50, 000 gallons and above it would
be 3 bottles of winter treat and 15 gallons of liquid chlorine.
Gallagher’s does have a service available where we will add these
chemicals to your pool for the cost of the chemicals only! Email
us at info@gallagherpools.com
or call the store for more details!

Remember to
check your pool’s water level. When you are ready to open your
pool it will need to be high enough to reach your skimmers so
that your filter will work properly. Now may be a good time
to start adding small amounts of water so that you have less
to add once it is time to open, but only after you have drained
your cover. Make sure your cover remains pumped off so that
mosquitoes and tadpoles do not start appearing in the water
atop your cover. You also do not want this water to end up in
your pool, so start pumping it off as soon as you can. You should
stop pumping when you get less than an inch of water on the
cover, as any more pumping will begin draining the pool.

It is important at this time of
year to check the status of all of your equipment. Ensure that
mice have not gotten to your solar cover or other soft goods.
Check your vacuum hose, telescopic pole, vacuum plate, vacuum
head, skimmer net, pool rope, and any other equipment to make
sure it is in good order. If any of it has become damaged or
destroyed over the winter, this is an excellent time to stop
in to Gallagher’s to purchase new equipment while it is on sale.
Remember… March 31st is the last day of the sale!
